Their site was outdated and needed an upgrade in both build and design, which we were happy to help with to bring an important organization up-to-date. Since their needs revolved around user experience, design, and customizability, we focused our nonprofit web design efforts on creating a custom built site using Crate and Elementor as an additional builder. These allowed us the opportunity to build custom features and functionalities that serve the TICA community.
Due to their emphasis on user experience, we created three main features to help them organize content and navigate users to relevant information: the blog, breeder listings, and ‘All About Cats’ search.
As part of their dedication to cats and their owners, one of TICA’s main goals was to provide a space for newsletters, health research updates, and general cat care information. They had a ton of great resources and publications housed on their original site, but they were difficult for users to access or find.
So for the new site we put a lot of our focus and attention on creating their new blog with updated categories that help organize the vast amount of resources and information that TICA has available for cat lovers. And we built it out to utilize an easy-to-use topic filtering system that allows users to select or deselect from topics they’re interested in to find the right information for them.
The second main feature is their breeder listings, which are a hub for all of the incredible TICA-registered breeders. Utilizing SalesForce, we imported the data of all of their registered catteries and implemented them in a system that organizes by individual breed of cat, country, and region/state across the world, allowing users interested in buying a cat of any breed to find a cattery close to them.
Lastly, they wanted a way for users to not just be able to search across the entire site, but search specific relevant information based on semantic searches. We accomplished this with the ‘All About Cats’ search function. This feature presents results of relevant blog posts, pages, and resources based on questions and understands intent and meaning rather than simply matching words within the content.
These features along with the new design make it easier for visitors to find information and become more involved with TICA as an organization. We’re incredibly proud of our work on moving their content and creating new and improved functionality for the brand new website, which will serve as a great resource and hub for all cat lovers.
